Brent Spiner - Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back |

Album - Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back Artist - Brent Spiner Label: Dead Line Release Date - 1991 Genre - Jazz Format/Bitrate - MP3@192 Size 47,3 mb Time - 34 min Yes, this album is by "Data" of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Brent sings mostly standards here, with the exception of one recent song by Randy Newman. Brent has a decent tenor voice, but he can't really sustain a note. Any time he tries to hold a note, there is quite a bit of vibrato. Not Tiny Tim level, to be sure, but still a bit distracting. The main fault with the album is that arrangements by Dennis McCarthy are rather dull and unimaginative. The two songs here that were arranged by John McKinney, on the other hand, are lively and fun. Too bad he didn't arrange the whole album. This album will appeal to Star Trek fans only. Trekkies will be especially interested in "It's a Sin (To Tell a Lie)", which features back-up vocals by LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes and Patrick Stewart, plus a recitation by Stewart. |

Duke Jordan Trio - Jor-Du |

Artist: Duke Jordan TrioAlbum: Jor-DuLabel: Venus Quality: FLAC & MP3@320 Size: 196 MB & 101 MB Time: 44:47 In 1973, however, Jordan began what would be a long association with SteepleChase, the legendary Danish jazz label, with the excellent albums Flight to Denmark and Two Loves. His resurgence finally made Jordan a star and a beloved jazz icon in Scandinavia, France, Japan ... almost everywhere except, of course, his home in the United States, a country that often seems to call jazz a National Treasure so it'll go up on the Ivory Tower and out of earshot. Jordan seemed to agree: in 1978, disgusted with the lack of audience in the US, he moved to Copenhagen and had crowds lined up to see him for the rest of his life. |

Artist: Keb' Mo' Album: Keb' Mo' Label: Epic Release Date: 06/07/1994 Genre: Blues Format, bitrate: mp3, 320kb/s Size: 95,7+9,8MB Keb' Mo's self-titled debut is an edgy, ambitious collection of gritty country blues. Keb' Mo' pushes into new directions, trying to incorporate some of the sensibilites of the slacker revolution without losing touch of the tradition that makes the blues the breathing, vital art form it is. His attempts aren't always successful, but his gutsy guitar playing and impassioned vocals, as well as his surprisingly accomplished songwriting, make Keb' Mo' a debut to cherish. Thom Owens, AMG. |

Curtis Fuller and Hampton Hawes With French Horns |

Artists: Curtis Fuller & Hampton HawesAlbum: With French Horns Label: OJC Year: 1957 Quality: MP3 320 + covers+ 5% recovery Size:81МЬ The French horn has rarely been used in jazz as a solo instrument until recent times. Back in the 1950s, jazz's top French horn player was Julius Watkins, with David Amram certainly ranking in the top five. For this 1957 session, trombonist Curtis Fuller and his quintet with altoist Sahib Shihab, pianist Hampton Hawes (Teddy Charles, who contributed three originals, takes his place on one number), bassist Addison Farmer, and drummer Jerry Segal are joined by both Watkins and Amram. On originals by Charles, Amram, and Salvatore Zito, the colorful ensembles and the very adept soloing by the French horns make this a particularly memorable recording. Strange that this album has been obscure for so long. Only the brief playing time keeps this intriguing set from getting a higher rating. ~Scott Yanow, AMG 2 MIrrors |

1988: Chet Baker - Sings and Plays from the film 'Let's Get Lost' |
Cool, Baker Chet |

Artist: Chet BakerAlbum: Sings and Plays from the film 'Let's Get Lost'Release: 1989 Label: RCA/BMG Quality: MP3 @320kbps Size: 157mb (RS.com) with 5% Winrar file recovery Includes Covers AMG:This disc includes music used in Let's Get Lost (1989), the Bruce Weber directed biopic centering on the tragic life and times of the West Coast cool jazz icon Chet Baker (trumpet/vocal). As was the case during many of Baker's final sessions, the artist performs with a makeshift combo of relative unknowns. Although Frank Strazzeri (piano), John Leftwich (bass), and Ralph Penland (drums) had presumably not played live with Baker outside of this project, Nicola Stilo (guitar), who contributes to "Zingaro" (aka "Portrait in Black & White") surfaced off and on with Baker throughout the '80s. Atypically, the combo is uniformly stunning throughout, sounding as if it had been backing him for much longer. With the exception of the aforementioned cut, the remainder of Chet Baker Sings and Plays from the Film "Let's Get Lost" (1989) boasts both a quartet and trio setting (sans Penland). Even though time and substances have given Baker the visage of a man twice his age, those inimitable pipes and velvet tone have worn surprisingly well... |

Unlike his previous efforts, Cray produced this one himself. Also, longtime bassist Richard Cousins was history, replaced by Karl Sevareid. 1983: The Stan Getz Quartet with Chet Baker - Quintessence. Vol.1 |

 |
Artist: The Stan Getz Quartet with Chet Baker Album: Quintessence, Vol. 1 Year: 1983 Release: 1998 Label: Concord Jazz Format, bitrate: MP3, 320 kbps Time: 51:40 Size: 124 MB The first volume of the performance which was then published in two discs. In this particular case, the Stan Getz Quartet's guest is the Great musician, vocalist and trumpeter, one of the founders of the Cool Jazz style - Chet Baker. Two geniuses have met only four times ( West Coast Live, Stan Meets Chet, Line for Lyons, Quintessence Vol1, Vol2), and this one is the last time - in the autumn of their years, what makes this disc so unique and interesting... Tenor-saxophonist Stan Getz and trumpeter Chet Baker would have seemed to have been a very musically compatible pair but, because they did not care for each enough personally, they only worked together on three separate occasions. The last such time was for a 1983 European tour. This broadcast from Norway was issued for the first time on this 1998 CD. Baker is heard as a special guest with Getz's quartet (which also includes pianist Jim McNeely, bassist George Mraz and drummer Victor Lewis), taking vocals on the majority of the seven selections; his singing was certainly an acquired taste by this point. In general Getz and Baker sound fine during their solos on such songs as "I'm Old Fashioned," "Star Eyes" and "Stablemates" although few surprises or sparks occur. Solid music that does not quite live up to its potential. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |
