This is the self-serving genius who set the music to elevators and waiting rooms around the world. This is Herb Alpert. From the opening charge of "The Lonely Bull" (complete with homesickness-inducing crowd noise) to the closing washes of "Making Love in the Rain," this album chronicles one of the most prolific and constantly contemporary careers in the music industry
How sweet it is to have all his hits together at last!

With the worldwide PolyGram release of Chameleon, Badi Assad (Pronounced Bah-Jee Ah-Sahje) emerged as an important new voice. Badi transcends traditional styles of her native Brasilian music with an exotic mixture of ethnic sounds from around the world. As a result, the extraordinary singer, guitarist, and percussionist is successfully forging an exhilarating genre of music that quite literally defies categorization.

Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) - South Africa
Artist: Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand)
Album: South Africa
Year: 1986
Label: Enja
Format: mp3@320Kbps
Size: 118 Mb (covers)
Total time: 52:11

Abdullah Ibrahim's spiritual and very melodic South African folk music is always worth hearing and his individuality remains quite impressive. This set, recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, features the pianist (who also plays a bit of soprano and adds his emotional voice to the proceedings) with his longtime altoist Carlos Ward, bassist Essiet Okun Essiet, drummer Don Mumford and vocalist Johnny Classens. The music, dealing with themes related to South African life, is quite personal, unique and surprisingly accessible. - AMG

Deep Rumba - A Calm In The Fire Of Dances

Artist: Deep Rumba
Album: A Calm in the Fire of Dances
Year: 2000
Label: Justin Time
Format: mp3@320Kbps
Size - 155,27mb
Total time: 68:41

Another page is written in rhumba history, New York chapter. Kip Hanrahan's ever inventive, ever experimental (sometimes to their own detriment) American Clave label offers a follow up to their first Deep Rumba release, This Night Becomes a Rumba. In very much the same spirit, the percussion is thickly layered and pulsing, the arrangement ideas are out of the box, and the emotional tone is at times melancholy and searching, at others fierce and impassioned.

Kenny Burrell - Kenny Burrell

Label: Prestige/Original Jazz Classics
Time: 36:21
Format: MP3 @320kbps
Size: 75mb (RS.com, with 5% file recovery)
Includes Covers + Scans

Guitarist Kenny Burrell, 25 at the time, is heard during one of his earlier sessions playing in his already recognizable straight-ahead style with a quintet that also features the underrated baritonist Cecil Payne, pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist Doug Watkins and drummer Elvin Jones. This album is a bit brief in time (just over 36 minutes) but contains plenty of fine swinging on tunes such as "Don't Cry Baby," "Drum Boogie," "All of You" and Bud Powell's "Strictly Confidential."

Label - Capitol
Year - 1959, release - 1990
Quality - MP3 - 320 Kbs
Size - 99 mb
Total time - 42:08

AMG Rating: Frank Sinatra - Come Dance With Me - 1959

Working with Billy May again, Frank Sinatra recorded his hardest swing album ever with Come Dance with Me! Driven by an intensely swinging horn section, the album has a fair share of slower numbers, but the songs that make the biggest impression are the up-tempo cuts. With May's charts wildly careening all over the place, Sinatra relies on his macho swagger; as a result, Come Dance with Me! is an intoxicating rush of invigorating dance songs. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Peter Green - Blue Guitar
Artist: Peter Green
Album: Blue Guitar
Label: Creole
Year: 1981
Format: MP3@320kbps
Time: 51.23
Size: 60 + 53.7mb

An odd compilation album of songs from Peter's first three PVK albums "In the skies", "Little dreamer" & "Whatcha gonna do". There are three recordings here that are of main interest though as they are either only available here or rarely available elsewhere. One is the opener "Apostle" which is different to the version on "In the skies" Although still very mellow, it has a more prominent lead part though I think this has more to do with the way both versions were recorded as opposed to Green not wanting the "In the skies" version to have one, and there's some ooh and aah backing vocals too. Probably not as good as the "In the skies" version but it's such a good song that it's safe to say both versions are great. "Woman don't" was the B side to the "Walkin' the road" single and curiously "Watcha gonna do" didn't appear on the album of the same name but does appear here. The rest are pretty good choices from the previous three albums but it's hardly definitive. However, there's enough good ones here for recommendation.
